This awesome couple met through mutual friends and bridesmaids Claire and Kate almost ten years ago. In these years they experienced so many parts of growing up side by side. University was one of them, turning 21 was another, celebrating their first jobs and then travelling to new and incredible places.
Tarryn and Kieren knew from the start that they wanted a barn/shabby chic style wedding and said that as soon as they drove into The Cowshed they knew it was the right place. They wanted a relaxed yet still romantic and elegant style. They knew the style of the wedding would be important but what mattered to them more was producing a setting where they could have fun with their beloved friends and family and create wonderful and beautiful memories.
We think its so cool that everyone got involved in making sure the couple had beautiful décor. They made a lot of it themselves, from the flower jars and tins to signboards and even the table-seating plan. It really was a team effort. Di Rademan did the beautiful bunting, Karen Kelly made sure they had pretty flowers, Nicole (Kieren’s sister) made the adorable origami cranes and Cynthia Wentzel did all the table décor and draping as well as the table in the ceremony.
Food was another important part of the wedding, Tarryn said she clearly remembers the beginning of all the planning and Kieren’s words “No one ever walks away from a wedding and says wow the table centre piece was S#@T, but people always comment on food and music” and we totally agree with you on that one Kieren. The couple didn’t want a traditional wedding or traditional meal (buffet of roast lamb, chicken, creamed spinach) Tarryn said this was an absolute no-no. These two chose to stick to their theme and went with Gourmet Burgers instead – yes please! The burgers, beef, chicken or halloumi were served with an incredible choice of toppings, onion rings and of course some crispy delicious potato wedges, yummy. For dessert they served hot sugar and cinnamon doughnuts, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate swirls with tea and coffee and instead of a traditional cake, the couple opted for an interesting macaroon tower created by Prep’ed by Sasha. The coolest treat by far was the awesome Steri Stumpie milkshakes on ice, I mean who doesn’t crave a Steri Stumpie after a party?
Tarryn and Kieren said their “I DO’S” at The Cowshed on the 13th of March 2015. The day was absolutely beautiful and an hour before the ceremony the heavens opened, however it miraculously stopped raining right in time for Tarryn to walk down the isle and WOW, she looked like a fairytale princess, her dress was a real show stopper and that flowing blonde hair, absolutely breathtaking. We are mad about the beautiful bridesmaids dresses she chose, navy is clearly so in. Her make-up was the perfect balance between natural and glam and was done by one of Tarryn’s talented family friends Monica Childs. Kieren and his groomsmen looked super cool in their slick suits, checked ties and all stars sneakers.
We love that Tarryn and Kieren decided to get married on the Friday, their thinking behind this was to rather spend the Saturday celebrating again and really getting a chance to chat and spend quality time with their family and friends as the actual wedding was just too busy to actually do that. The sun was out and the sky was blue and this called for the perfect moment to throw down some blankets and have a picnic under the trees. The groomsmen took part in a Masterchef cook-off and created the most delicious potjies for all the guests. Tarryn said it best “all in all it was a magical and fun filled weekend”.
