Jani and Etienne’s story started over a piece of cheesecake at Mugg & Bean, it was in this moment that Etienne asked Jani to be his girlfriend, a few years later he asked her to be his wife, in Paris nogal, read their story here:
“We’ll always have Paris
On 24 April 2014 we got on a plane, Paris bound. Our long anticipated Euro-trip had finally arrived and we were both excited to explore the streets of Paris and Barcelona.
On 28 April 2014 we headed to the 8th Arrondissement for a stroll down the famous Champs Elysees. For lunch we had burgers, probably not the best choice of food when you are in a country known for its exquisite cuisine, but the fact that we had a 4 course French meal waiting for us on the sunset boat cruise on the Seine that evening made our cheap food choice more viable. On the boat, two courses and a bottle of red wine later, a man sitting at the table opposite us proposed to this girlfriend, I mean what are the odds. I remember thinking ‘geesh that would be nice a proposal in Paris’. After dinner we decided (more him than me actually) that we need to see the Eiffel tower, again, but this time at night.
On 29 April 2014 around 12:01 am just as the tower lit up in a beautiful light display I found the man of my dreams on one knee next to me. The rest is all a bit of a blur but it was a real emotional overflow. Feeling like two giddy teenagers we raced back to the Metro before its shut down time. It was my full intention not to break the news until we get back, but any girl would know that keeping that kind of news to yourself is well, impossible.
On 29 April 2014 at 15:00 we locked our love on the Pont des Amoureux bridge, took a couple of photos and desperately looked for a Starbucks with sufficient wifi so that we can share our happiness with the rest of the world.”
What a beautiful proposal story, it’s almost every girl’s dream to get engaged in Paris and of course we love a good romance at The Cowshed. We feel honoured that Jani and Etienne chose to say their vows at our beautiful venue. The couple wanted a green and organic wedding as they both love the outdoors and have an appreciation for design. This reflected in their wedding so well. Jani did all her own decor and the flowers were done by the talented Sam at Bliss Floral Creations, lots of beautiful leafy greens and white garlands hanging between the lights. Jani was an extremely organised bride with lists and diagrams, just the kind we like to work with.
The weather on the day turned out to be perfect and made for an amazing backdrop to the photos, there were some dark clouds threatening in the background, luckily a lovely breeze passed through and pushed them and the rain far away. All in all, the day was a visual feast; Jani in her unique and absolutely magnificent hand painted silk dress, with a white-to-green fade-out, paired with adorable Amanda Laird Cherry brown leather pumps; she bought these long before her first dress fitting, talk about knowing what you want. The maid of honour and bridesmaid looked summery and fresh in their neutral dresses, we think a match made in heaven. The groom and his groomsmen looked handsome and relaxed in khaki, grey and white.
The festivities continued and the guests enjoyed an array of delicious canapés, cocktails and craft beer on the lawn after the intimate ceremony under the Tipuana tree. We love how natural and raw this wedding was, this couple stayed true to their style and it was a beautiful celebration of love to witness.
